Jane Goodall comes to town

Jane Goodal everybody!! Famed anthropologist who worked with Chimps in Africa for years came to my very own Hwa Gye Sa temple.. She gave a one hour talk about the environment and food and stuff, and then participated in a ceremony, the traditional Zen eating, which uses four bowls, organic veggie food and ZERO wastage. She is currently going around the world working on her "roots and shoots" campaign to help in 3rd world countries, teaching people to grow their own food. She paints a dark picture of the harsh environmental realities facing the planet, but has hope that we can recover from the current problems with spreading awareness and personal consumption choices... She says we need to learn to care for animals as well, and realize that most of the meat we eat comes from icky animal farms. With great clarity and compassion she explained this to us! A really lovely lady, I'm inspired to have seen her speak, and I think I will be consuming less junk food and meat. <3a
