Jealous Flowers

Hi all,
It's cold here in Seoul. So cold that you can see your breath in huge clouds even in the middle of the day- after lunar new years, they have a saying that it gets so cold because the flowers are jealous. I'm not really sure what this means, or why the flowers are jealous.
Anyways, despite freezing Siberian wind, all is going well-- I finally found a new apartment to live in, and moved in the other day. Its got a big outside space I get all to myself, and a room which is huge compared to my last place, plus a kitchen. =) I love it, and will love it even more after I have some furniture.

Two of my articles just came out in K-Scene, which usually takes a while to update online. One is about Korean Shamanism and one is about my trip back to Boulder. I'm happy about that, and have a few articles in planning phases for the Korea times coming up. One is about an Oriental Doctor, and one on my friend's drumming band. Hopefully all goes well. I am learning that a journalist has to be persistently pesky to get anything done, which is ok with me.

Just got a call from my friend Paul, we are going to chill out in the Sauna for the day, where I bet half of Seoul will be also, to beat this freeze. I'm going to Japan on Thursday (4 days) for a visa run, so I'll take some pics there. =)
Love,Annie

Hello Annie,
Here in Texas the paper did an article about "bibimbap"
http://www.chron.com/CDA/archives/archive.mpl?id=2005_4017384. U might want to write about Korean food,as here in the states,Vietnamese and Thai are more 'known' than Korean. Also I hear Korea has vending machines with miso soup. True? Yours, John, ole Red Tara sangha friend
