Hi everyone! I feel as if I've been slackin on my new years resolution to write on this blog more often... However, my excuse is my current computerlessness, and the tendency for blogger.com to appear in all Korean in PC rooms... Plus the button on my camera fell off, no joke, but don't worry, dad is sending me another one. So i'll just have to paint sum pictures with words for now- not as immediately satisfying maybe, but leaves more to the imagination.
I've been in a transitional state here lately, having had a month with out much work, and changing apartments. I still have my job, but chose not to work this month during our "intensive" winter session which is the kind of thing that give hagwons reputations as educational sweat shops. Luckily, my boss is a nice guy and let me take the month off. I'm moving out of this shoebox and into another one, with a better view this time, which is good cause i was getting sick of staring at that brick wall :-)
I've been spending my time teaching a little at a high school, writing a few articles and having lots of "meetings" with people that are occasionally productive, and sometimes just forums for mass tea consumption. Tea of kinds from the best to the worst, from the temple tea room to the kitchy couch laden tea house with people in chipmunk suits running around and bottomless cups of pink tea... tea can cost a lot- a monk told me the other day that a small round box of it he had goes for about 100 dollars.. but it holds 50 cups of bliss.
I've been wandering around the city a bit in my free time checkin out the infinite corners and interesting neighborhoods here...Lots of poetry in alley ways and subway cars and temple halls. I'll try and catch more of it and write it here.Love to everyone back home
keppinwarm,
Annie
