Hey all. These past two weeks have been amazingly busy and fabulous beyond measure. Two weeks ago Korea celebrated its version of Thanksgiving called Chusok. I went with a group from Hwa Gye Sa on a train a few hours south of Seoul to another temple called Mu Sang Sa. I keep telling everyone it was like crouching tiger hidden dragon, which is true. Surrounded by huge lush mountains, the wind kept on rushing through the trees which all cried out in one tree voice about the way the wind felt in the leaves. . . It was very spacious up there, and the feng shui of the place is said to be very powerful, which I believe to be true.
So, we were led in a 3 day mediation retreat by some very kind monks and nuns, alt
hough they will hit you on the back with sticks if you ask nicely. Although we weren’t allowed to talk, I made some new friends, and had some good times. Although the 3am wake up 2 days in a row was hard, and sitting soon made me feel lots of suffering, I didn't want to leave when it was over… back to the cement forests of Seoul I guess.
a girl warms her face in the sun
can you hear me now?
haha, this is my attempt at a haiku. It comes from one metal image of a nun standing towards the sun with a ton of umbrellas drying in front of her, and another of the Zen master leaning out the window with his cell phone going "can you hear me now?!" and it seemed like a surreal version commercial. I am so lucky to be here. Anyways, I'll tell you about last weekend at the Mask festival later, and put some more pics of Mu Sang Sa and the masks.Love,
