Interview with an Author

This lovely Lady from Sweden is the famous author Helena Norberg-Hodge, author of Best selling book "Ancient Futures" which from what have gathered is about her studies on sustainable living in a small village in Tibet. I heard her speak at a Buddhism and Ecology conference at Donguk University today-- I had never really been to Donguk-Seoul's best (only?) Buddhist University... Its a beautiful place with a gorgeous campus and elephant statues. Her speak at the conference today was very inspiring-- through traveling to many places around the world, Helena seems to have gotten a birds eye view of some of the major themes evolving socially on the planet. Her main gripe is with globalization, and the nonsensical economic polices of today which only benefit the wealthy few and end up destroying local character and communities. She hopes that instead of consumerism and globalization which seems to bring depression, unhappiness and psychological disorders, which she says comes from the images projected by the media which make people feel inadequate-- (in fact that is their very function, to make people feel bad about themselves so they keep consuming. ) Instead of this reality, that people will choose to Localization, Diversity and energy conservation.
Wow! I was really glad to meet her today-- I guess her book has sold "quite a few" copies worldwide. Now that was my brainstorm for an article I'll write about this, I'll link it when it’s done in a week or so. Green Feelings, Annie Posted by Picasa
